The Canada Geese that come to Biltmore to make babies and an astounding amount of poop seemed more prolific than usual this year. It is hard to tell if they just had more survivors or a whole lot of babies but there are couples swimming around with as many as 8 goslings following them and learning the ropes.

If you look carefully at the second shot you can see a tiny toad that was probably convinced that he was invisible. You might want to double click that picture to look at it full-size. We have also had what seems like a more abundant population of black snakes this year. I was pretty stunned one day when I opening box 58 expecting to see some baby swallows only to find a black snake coiled up inside and completely filling the box.
