We've been enjoying the Lagoon lately. . .in large part due to the blinding greenery and the amazing number of geese and goslings.
This is one of the forest trails that I really enjoy at this time of year. Again, almost blinding greenery and lots of welcome shade. This old bridge is typical of the small wooden ones Olmstead built all over the estate.
I have no idea what kind of shrub this is but I like it. The other shot is one of the multitude of geese at the lagoon. More to come. You can see some little baby geese with the adults. At this stage they really don't have feathers yet. . .just yellow fuzz, and they are apparently really vulnerable to predation. One week you will see a mother with 8 goslings and a week later the most anyone has is maybe 3 or 4. Kind of sad, but I guess that is how nature works.
